If you’re looking for ways to improve the overall appearance of your hair, check out our tips and tricks for shiny hair.
I have never colored my hair and even when I only get it cut once a year, it’s still looks way better than you’d expect. I try to care for my hair as best I can.
That means choosing natural ingredients when I can, and following a hair care routine that makes sense for me. It means not washing my hair too much, choosing products that work well with my hair and following a few tips.
If you’re looking to improve the strength and appearance of your hair check out these 7 tips for glowing locks.
1. Choose All Natural Hair Care Products
Your hair will thank you for this one. Using hair products that are filled with chemicals and who knows what else will only do more damage to your hair.
Choosing products that are made from natural ingredients will give your hair the vitamins and nutrients that it needs rather than coating it with un-needed synthetic chemicals.
One natural shampoo and conditioner brand I like is Pureland Beauty.
2. Decide How Often to Wash Your Hair
Believe it or not, you do not need to wash your hair daily. Most people wash their hair every other day, and some people go much longer. It all depends on your hair type.
Now this does not mean that you don’t shower. It only means that you don’t wash your hair every day – getting it wet is not considered washing it.
If you have dry hair, washing less often can help keep moisture in. If you have very oily hair, your scalp and hair may be out of balance from washing too frequently. You can use a dry shampoo to help absorb oil on days during the transition.
3. Use Shampoo and Conditioner Properly
The average person takes their shampoo, lathers it all over their hair and then rinses it out – repeating the process with conditioner. This is NOT how it should be done! You are making your hair greasier by doing this.
Shampoo should be applied to the scalp and roots, and conditioner to the ends of your hair. Applying these products in the correct manner will keep your hair looking fresh and full of volume.
4. Get a Regular Trim
If you want to keep your hair looking its best, it’s important to get a regular trim. This tip for gorgeous hair will not only keep the split ends away, but it will encourage more growth in your hair.
5. Reconsider Coloring Your Hair
If you’re getting your hair colored and you notice a lot of damage, you may want to re-consider this practice. The chemicals in hair dye not only dry out the hair itself, but also the follicles, causing dry scalps, dry hair and more split ends.
If you’re not ready to stop dying your hair, look into natural hair dyes. There are more and more coming onto the market.
Instead of getting a full dye, you can also try out highlights instead. It will blend with your natural color to allow for less hair dye.
6. Make Good Food Choices
What you put into your mouth has a far greater impact on your hair than you may imagine. Skip greasy fast food and make sure you’re getting enough fruits, vegetables and healthy fats in your diet.
7. Boost Hair with Essential Oils
There are so many amazing uses for essential oils, so it shouldn’t be any surprise that they’re great for hair too. You can add essential oil blends to your shampoo to help with dry hair or dandruss.
As you can see, simple changes can help improve the appearance of your hair over time if you’re willing to put in the effort. I hope these 7 tips will help you keep your locks gorgeous.
